Fang din by - an annual photographic competition - was officially opened this evening and the winners of the main competition and the winners of the competition for entries from schools in Denmark were announced.

The theme - En ny skønhed or a New Beauty - encouraged photographers to look for less conventional images of beauty in the reality of our urban lives.

In previous years, Fang din by has been restricted to Danish entries but this year the competition has been expanded to accept entries from all European countries and the photographs selected for this exhibition represent 23 cities.

More than 8,000 photographs were submitted and the exhibition shows 56 of those photographs that were selected by an international jury.

The photographs are shown on the public square in front of BLOX - the home of the Danish Architecture Center - so access is free.

The photographs can also be seen at three other venues in Denmark …. from 7 June to the 21 July at Klostertorvet in Kalunndborg; from 23 July to 1 September at Herlev Library in Herlev and from 3 September to 1 October at Taastrup Library.

All the photographs in the exhibition can be seen online on the Architecture Center site.
