the end of the celebrations

 

This is the last full day of the two weeks of celebrations and events in Copenhagen to mark the 850th anniversary of the city. The weather looks promising and there are a number of guided tours including a circuit of the harbour by bike and a walk around the historic city to discuss who had political power and about women appointed to positions of power in parliament and the court.

The main event on Monday 18th September seems appropriate … a discussion at BLOX about the future of Copenhagen … about resources, about how the city will adapt and about upcycling.

The photograph was taken one evening this week as I headed home through Højbro Plads. The statue of Absalon with the tower and spire of Christiansborg … like giant chess pieces the Norse Gods left half way through a game ……
