Nørreport … the remodelled station at night
/Extensive rebuilding and reconfiguration of the streetscape at Nørreport station in Copenhagen is almost complete although some work continues on the new entrance steps from the south end of Frederiksborggade … the main pedestrian street running from the centre of the city to the station.
Photographs taken last night show how the pavement and street area of Nørre Voldgade above the station has been transformed.
At night the illumination of the columns above ventilation shafts provide a soft overall lighting and features like the high-quality wooden seating that rings each of the shafts and the paving around the sunken areas where bikes are stored adds interest but without cluttering the space because this is the the busiest transport interchange in the city.
