Walking around Copenhagen, one of the pleasures is looking at the huge number of well-restored historic buildings. For most of these buildings the palette of colours used is relatively subtle … generally various combinations of grey with stone colours. Woodwork is often surprisingly dark .. again dark grey or dark green rather than white. Many of the buildings have original decorative elements across the street frontage in carved stone or in moulded brick. For the best apartment buildings it’s really variation on a theme and it gives the centre of the city a strong visual coherence.
